Gratz is known among animators around the world for her unique animation technique, clay-painting. She is the winner of the 1992 Academy Award for Best Animated Short for "Mona Lisa Descending A Staircase." Her other films include: "Dowager's Feast," "Creation," and two films with Joanna Priestley: "Pro & Con" and "Candy Jam." Working with bits of clay as if they were oil paints, she blends colors and etches fine lines to create a seamless flow of images.
